With over two decades of experience in banking and capital markets, Jochen Mehltretter brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the Financial Services Practice. His extensive network within the finance community supplements his expertise in navigating international markets and his ability to facilitate cross-border transactions and provide insights on regulatory compliance.
Some of Jochen’s more notable accomplishments include advising on insurance company disposals, restructurings (and concurrent risks to the board), regulatory changes and executing numerous capital raisings. He enjoys helping clients solve complex problems and is known for his discretion, often acting as a sounding board for clients while advising on sensitive strategic issues.
Financial services expert in strategy, capital markets, risk and regulatory considerations
- Jochen served as the head of debt capital markets for financial institutions for Northern Europe at JP Morgan, where he developed strong relationships with CFOs, heads of strategy and capital, treasurers and other key decision-makers and helped turn around their debt capital markets financial institutions business in Europe.
- Prior to that, as a managing director at Morgan Stanley, Jochen focused on capital and risk advisory across various European regions.
- Following his start as an economist at the World Bank, he joined Lehman Brothers in investment banking, focusing on financial institutions. During his M.B.A., he obtained an internship at McKinsey & Company and then rejoined Lehman Brothers in debt capital markets, specializing in capital advisory and risk management for financial institutions.
Jochen holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Bonn and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is fluent in English, French and German.
